The Weinman Painting Atelier for Youth
Spring 2019

   at∙el∙ier (at-ĕl- yay) n. an artist’s studio or school.

While having FUN learning to paint your child will be thinking in terms of color and light which will entail instruction in physics and the anatomy of the eye.  Geometry and math are part of the instruction your child will get in proportion and perspective.  Most of all, your child will expand in self-esteem by realizing that he or she CAN DO IT!

The Weinman Painting Atelier for Youth (W.A.Y.) is more than a painting class.  Not only will your child be getting expert training in oil painting from a master, your child will also be practicing mindful awareness and be engaged in a practice that we feel is an antidote to the virtual, fast-paced, mass-produced world that we live in. Your child will spend several hours tapping into their creative intelligence away from screens, attending to creating beauty with their very own hands.

Melissa Weinman Studio uses solvent-free oil painting methods using walnut oil--the very medium used by masters of oil painting such as Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer.  That means your child will not be exposed to unnecessary solvents while oil painting.

Watch the video and see what we can do!  We're turning decades of training into days.  Learning to paint is like learning to read.  Once the teacher shows you the code, you can do it!
