Summer 2016 Classes

Picture
Study solvent-free oil painting for all levels.  You may purchase single sessions for $90 each.   Classes meet in my Ruston, Washington Studio (near Tacoma) on Saturdays over a period of two weeks.  August 13 & 20th, 2016. Sessions run from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. with short breaks.  On August 20th we'll have a male portrait model.  No extra model fee--it's on me!  Bring your lunch.  Beverages and snacks provided.  I will conduct a short demo and/or an informative discussion at the beginning of each session.  Space is limited to 8 participants.  Read the class description below. To register send a me a check with your selections to: Melissa Weinman Studio, 5340 N Commercial St., Ruston, WA  98407, by August 1st 2016.  Include your email address so I can send you a confirmation of your registration.  Use the CONTACT link above to email me questions.  Refer to the Supply List page under Melissa Weinman Studio Classes for a list of suggested supplies to bring with you.  I allow artists to work in other media as long as they do not bring petroleum-based solvents into my studio.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
In 2014-15, here at Melissa Weinman Studio I taught 15 different workshops on topics relevant to representational oil painting.  For those of you who joined me, you studied a textbook's worth of material, and I thank you for helping me create over 40 instructional videos from these workshops.  These videos are usually fewer than 5 minutes long, categorized into topics relevant to study, and they are FREE for you to watch and learn.

Because I am committed to helping each of my student-artists achieve his or her goals, in Fall 2015, I started doing things a little differently.  Each of my student-artists comes with unique aesthetic preferences, a different life situation, an individual level of mastery, and a specific number of hours to paint each week.  Therefore, I am using the summer session to coach, critique, and instruct in the areas in which each student needs it most.
Each gets the benefit of Individual study ($50/hr.) at a group rate ($15/hr.)
