CLASS DESCRIPTION
In 2014-15, here at Melissa Weinman Studio I taught 15 different workshops on topics relevant to representational oil painting.  For those of you who joined me, you studied a textbook's worth of material, and I thank you for helping me create over 40 instructional videos from these workshops.

Because I am committed to helping each of my student-artists achieve his or her goals, in Fall 2015, I started doing things a little differently.  Each of my student-artists comes with unique aesthetic preferences, a different life situation, an individual level of mastery, and a specific number of hours to paint each week.  Therefore, I create a course of study for each artist who commits to studying with me.  Here is how it works:
  1. You and I discuss your goals.*
  2. I design a 10-week course of study with assignments for you to meet those goals.
  3. You set your own pace.  I can help you decide how long to spend on each assignment.
  4. At the end of each course of study you will have finished paintings that demonstrate an accomplishment of your goals.
  5. At the completion of each ten-week course, I will offer an evaluation of your progress and help you create another set of goals, should you choose to continue study with me.  You get the benefit of Individual study ($50/hr.) at a group rate ($15/hr.)
For artists who are interested in painting the figure, I hire a model and set aside a portion of the studio for the pose.  Artists who choose to study the figure will have a $30 model fee for each 6-hour session.  (I need at least four students committed to the figure in order to do this.  If I have more than four, the fee decreases.)  Still life painters will have a portion of the studio for still life painting.  Each artist will set-up in the same spot for the ten-week session in order to control lighting and other factors.
