  • Portfolio case to carry your drawings and paper
  • Tool box for drawing tools
  • Spiral bound drawing pad of good drawing paper such as Strathmore medium to heavyweight drawing paper, at least 18" x 12" in dimension
  • Soft vine charcoal
  • Soft drawing pencils ranging from 3B-6B
  • Good metal German pencil sharpener with removable blades,  single edge razor blade, and emery board for sharpening pencils, charcoal, and crayons
  • Conte crayons in black, white, and sienna.  Grays and browns are also useful.
  • White plastic eraser for pencil
  • Kneaded gum eraser for charcoal
  • Q-tips
  • One or two sheets gray charcoal paper
  • Optional: a sheet of buff/flesh tone charcoal paper (similar to the one depicted in the drawing to the left.)
  • Artists tape to fasten drawing paper to a drawing board
  • Journal or notebook for taking notes
  • Drawing board to tape gray and buff paper to for the grisaille and trois crayon classes, or to tape white drawing paper to if you don't have a stiff cardboard backed drawing paper pad
